Dua for Rizq and Barakah During Umrah — Why Makkah Is the Best Place to Ask Allah for What You Need

Sep 18, 2026

When UK Muslims ask us what they should do in Makkah beyond the rituals of Umrah, we give them the same answer every time.

Make dua.

Not a quick dua between Tawaf rounds while thinking about what to eat next. Not a rushed dua at Safa before the crowds push you forward.

Sustained, focused, personal dua — asking Allah for what you actually need.

Among the most consistent needs UK Muslims bring to Makkah is rizq — provision. Barakah in their income. Relief from debt. Business success. A job. A house. Financial security for their children.

Makkah is the right place to ask for all of it.

This article explains why — and gives you every dua from the Sunnah for rizq, barakah, and provision to take with you.

Why Makkah Is the Most Powerful Place to Make Dua for Rizq

Several specific moments during Umrah are identified in the Sunnah as times when dua is accepted.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

"There are three duas that are not rejected: the dua of the fasting person when breaking fast, the dua of the just ruler, and the dua of the one who is wronged."

(Tirmidhi)

But he also identified specific places and moments during pilgrimage:

First sight of the Kaaba — the Prophet ﷺ said this is a moment of accepted dua. Raise your hands and ask.

During Tawaf — the Prophet ﷺ called Tawaf a form of Salah and encouraged dua throughout.

At the Multazam — the wall between the Black Stone and the door of the Kaaba. Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said: "The Multazam is a place where no dua is rejected."

During Sa'i at Safa and Marwa — the dua of Hagar (عليها السلام) was accepted at this very place. It remains a place of accepted dua.

Drinking Zamzam — the Prophet ﷺ said: "Zamzam water is for whatever it is drunk for." Drink it while asking for rizq and barakah.

In sajdah during optional prayers at the Haram — the Prophet ﷺ said: "The closest a servant is to his Lord is when in sajdah, so make abundant dua." Sajdah at the Haram carries the weight of this proximity.

Quranic Duas for Rizq and Barakah

Dua of Ibrahim (عليه السلام) for Rizq in Makkah

This dua was made by Ibrahim (عليه السلام) himself in Makkah — asking Allah for provision for the people of the holy city. It is among the most powerful duas for rizq in the Quran.

Transliteration: Rabbi j'al hadha baladan aminan warzuq ahlahu minat-thamarat.

Meaning: "My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits as provision."

(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:126)

Reading this dua in the very city where Ibrahim (عليه السلام) first made it carries a depth that cannot be replicated anywhere else.

Dua for Rizq — Surah Al-Jumu'ah

Transliteration: Wabtaghu min fadlillah.

Meaning: "And seek from the bounty of Allah."

(Surah Al-Jumu'ah 62:10)

Make this dua with full trust that Allah's bounty is without limit — and that you are asking from a place He loves, in a city He honoured, at a time He guided you to be there.

Dua of Musa (عليه السلام) for Provision

One of the most beautiful duas for rizq in the Quran is the dua of Musa (عليه السلام) made at a moment of complete reliance on Allah.

Transliteration: Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqir.

Meaning: "My Lord, I am in need of whatever good You send down to me."

(Surah Al-Qasas 28:24)

This dua is made from a place of complete humility and complete reliance. Read it in Makkah — in the place closest to Allah — and mean every word of it.

Prophetic Duas for Rizq and Barakah

The Most Complete Dua for Rizq from the Sunnah

Transliteration: Allahumma inni as'alukal-huda wat-tuqa wal-'afafa wal-ghina.

Meaning: "O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity and self-sufficiency (richness)."

(Sahih Muslim)

The Prophet ﷺ regularly made this dua. Al-Ghina here — richness — means contentment and self-sufficiency. True rizq is not only money. It is freedom from need of others.

Dua for Barakah in Provision

Transliteration: Allahumma barik lana fima razaqtana, wa qina 'adhaban-nar.

Meaning: "O Allah, bless us in what You have provided for us, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."

Barakah in rizq is more important than the amount of rizq itself. Money without barakah disappears without benefit. Money with barakah stretches further than it should. Ask for barakah specifically — in Makkah, where this dua lands closest to its destination.

Dua for Relief from Debt

Many UK Muslims carry the weight of debt — mortgages, car finance, business loans, personal debts. The Prophet ﷺ taught a specific dua for debt relief:

Transliteration: Allahumma-kfini bihalaalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.

Meaning: "O Allah, suffice me with what You have made halal, away from what You have made haram. And make me independent through Your favour, of all others besides You."

(Tirmidhi)

The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever reads this regularly, Allah will remove their debt even if it is as great as a mountain. Read it in Makkah. Read it at the Multazam. Read it in sajdah. Read it while drinking Zamzam.

Dua for Barakah in Business

Transliteration: Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbala.

Meaning: "O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good (halal) provision, and accepted deeds."

(Ibn Majah)

The Prophet ﷺ would read this after Fajr prayer. Reading it in the Haram after Fajr — in Makkah, facing the Kaaba — is among the most powerful moments you will have for making this request.

Dua to Remove Worry and Debt

Ali ibn Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) narrated that a slave came to him seeking help with his debt. He said: "Shall I not teach you words that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me? Even if you had a debt as great as a mountain of Sabir, Allah would pay it off for you. Say:"

(Already given above — this is the same dua and its power confirmed by this narration.)

The Dua of the 99 Names — Asking for Rizq by Allah's Name Al-Razzaq

Allah's name Al-Razzaq — the Provider, the Sustainer — is among His most beautiful names.

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Allah has ninety-nine names... whoever memorises them will enter Paradise." (Bukhari and Muslim)

When making dua for rizq in Makkah, call on Allah by His name Al-Razzaq specifically:

يَا رَزَّاقُ ارْزُقْنِي رِزْقًا حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا وَاسِعًا

Transliteration: Ya Razzaqu urzuqni rizqan halalan tayyiban wasi'a.

Meaning: "O Provider, provide me with halal, good and abundant provision."

Call on Allah by this name at the Multazam. Call on Him by it while in sajdah in the Haram. Call on Him by it when drinking Zamzam.

What to Ask for Specifically in Makkah

Many UK Muslims arrive in Makkah and feel overwhelmed — not knowing what to ask for, or asking so generally that the dua lacks specificity and personal meaning.

The Prophet ﷺ said Allah loves when His servant asks specifically.

Write down before you travel — in a small notebook or on your phone — the specific things you want to ask Allah for during your Umrah in 2026.

For rizq and provision:

Be specific. Not just "give me money" — but the specific amount of debt you want cleared, the specific business decision you need guidance on, the specific job you are hoping for, the specific house you want to provide for your family.

Ask for barakah alongside the amount. A little with barakah is better than a lot without.

Ask for halal provision specifically. Rizq that comes through haram carries no barakah and brings problems with it.

Ask for sufficiency (al-Ghina) over abundance. The dua the Prophet ﷺ most commonly made was not for wealth — it was for sufficiency, contentment, and freedom from need of others.

What is the dua for debt removal during Umrah?
